History of the Fish Festival in Cesenatico

The fish festival in Cesenatico has deep roots in the city’s maritime tradition. The event was created to celebrate the work of local fishermen and to promote fresh fish as a key ingredient of Romagna cuisine. Over the years, the festival has grown in popularity, attracting visitors from all over Italy and beyond. Each edition features a rich programme of side events, from tastings to live music performances.

Blue as the Fish – Spring Edition in Cesenatico

For Spring 2026, the festival “Blue as the Fish” takes place during the 25th April holiday weekend, from 23 to 26 April.

The spring gastronomic event is held in the charming historic centre and along the harbour canal, which fills with the scents, flavours and warm hospitality typical of Romagna.

From dinner on Thursday 23 April to dinner on Sunday 26 April, food stands will serve fresh fish specialities. The best restaurateurs from Romagna and Cesenatico will prepare simple and authentic traditional dishes that tell the story and identity of the city.

Blue as the Fish: A Unique Theme

“Blue as the Fish – Cesenatico” is a tribute to the sea and its beauty. During the event, visitors can take part in themed activities including cooking workshops and artistic performances inspired by the marine world.

The theme celebrates not only gastronomy but also environmental sustainability and local fishing traditions.
